About.
Deirdre Ambrose is a visual artist, living and working in Dublin. She has a B.A and M.A in Visual Art Practices from IADT, where she specialised in video and digital media. Her practice is built on the act of observing and recording, baring witness to the flux and flow inherent in everything, chasing glimpses of the unfixed and formless.
She is interested in cross-disciplinary collaborations, the intersection of art and technology, and ways of producing and experiencing art outside of the gallery. In 2018 she founded ‘The Convent’, as a response to the lack of housing and studio space in Dublin. A disused church building in Stillorgan became a temporary, low cost residential, studio, and performance space, homing 12 artists, musicians, actors and activists for a year, as the building awaited planning permission for development.
She has over 10 years experience in community art and non formal education, and in more recent years has acquired qualifications in digital media, creativity innovation and entrepreneurship, and digital storytelling. She puts these skills to good use by working with like minded people / projects/ businesses to help them tell their stories, in whatever medium is best.
